HeforShe Pledge

For quite some time now it has been universally accepted that the active participation of women in all spheres of life is necessary for comprehensive success. Gender Equality is a pre-requisite for overall, sustainable success. Testimony to this belief is the United Nations (UN), through its arm UN Women, launching the global HeForShe initiative and aggressively promoting the same.

HeForShe is a solidarity movement for Gender Equality developed by UN Women aimed at engaging Men & Boys as advocates and agents to ensure Gender Equality and women’s rights. It encourages them to speak out and act against inequalities faced by women and girls. It aims to spread awareness and trigger action on the responsibility that men and boys have in eliminating all forms of discrimination & violence against Women and Girls.

One Stop Centre - for Women

Gender Based Violence (GBV) is a global health, human rights and development issue that transcends geography, class, culture, age, race and religion to affect every community and country in every corner of the world. The Article 1 of UN Declaration on the Elimination of Violence 1993 provides a definition of gender - based abuse, calling it "any act of gender - based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life”.

In India, gender based violence has many manifestations; from the more universally prevalent forms of domestic and sexual violence including rape, to harmful practices such as, dowry, honour killings, acid attacks, witch - hunting, sexual harassment, child sexual abuse, trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation, child marriage, sex selective abortion, sati etc.

Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), has formulated a Centrally Sponsored Scheme for setting up One Stop Centre, a sub - scheme of Umbrella Scheme for National Mission for Empowerment of women including Indira Gandhi Mattritav Sahyaog Yojana. Popularly known as Sakhi, the scheme is being implemented since 1st April 2015. These Centres are being established across the country to provide integrated support and assistance under one roof to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces in phased manner.

Objective

One Stop Centre - Rehabilitation for Men

Confidential Support

When the crime happens perpretrator is eually abused by self as much as the victime. The victim is because of the suddent attacks and inabulity to stand up to fight whereas the perpretrator is because of inability to overcome the rage, anger issue, frutration, hopelessness, fear, memories of abusive childhood, weaknesses towards substances, lack of compsassion, no place to go, unabe to find a lace to get counselled. These men are unable to find peace and stabiulity in any relationship. They get hgappiness with instant gratification and ego boostrs. The power that they get by abusing or harassing the victim works like a kick to increase their adernalise. Once the power of this adernaline is over the same man feels guilty, shame, unable to face self, free self from the act and more. It’s a vicious circle of cause of the act & effect of the action. Unfortunatly in India such men have no centers where they can take a break of few months to rehabilitate. The impact of social / cultural accetance & image protection is so high that men prefer not to speak and find such support. Other men to do not accept such men by calling it matcho man image need no require any support.

We asking men to change and accepting their behavioural change but how many are equipped to change themselves,we as women and society hates such men. Another side of the society produce such men. There is no bridge to close this gap. There is no solution to create normalcy. We are too dependent on cultural norms, family backgrounds, religious interventions, spiritual enlightenments. There is no systematic program availabe which involves everything including a medical support. One solution is not enough.

Poornam has idetified these gaps and have decided to create Sanyam. One who has achived perfect balace in all different aspects of life. One who calmly balances his wildly contradicting roles, for example shivas role as a Creator & a Destroyer.

Poornam belived the Shiva Adiyogi is sansari at the same time the one who is capable of staying unaffected by Sansar. There is no other attribute that can define the essence of Man’s best attributes.

Financial Independence

This has been our experince that women who are vistim of violence, abuses or any kind of crime are financially weak. Many a times affetec women have no money to fight their own case or support themselves or children to take a firm stand.

Some are already educated so refreshing their skills and creating opportunties for them is necessary to start their life. Some thos who have not been oriented towards job needs to undergo skill development program to create an employement.
